here is a list of different Mediums of art:

3-D Construction
It is multi-step process that starts with an ink drawing on a large sheet of paper, then hand color the drawing. This color drawing and a color-coded black and white duplicate are sent to a printer who returns several proofs for refinement. The printer collaborates with an artist on exact specifications and finally prints two identical silkscreens for each final edition piece. Artist then cuts elements from one of the prints and affix them with double-sided foam tape to its twin on the base print thus creating the 3-D construction.

Acrylic
A range of rigid, lightweight plastics, used commonly in the form of sheets or rods, as well as in their liquid state for casting or coating. Acrylics may be made transparent, translucent, or opaque, and are available in a range of colors. (pr. uh-cri'licks)

Acrylic on Wood
A range of rigid, lightweight plastics, used commonly in the form of sheets or rods, as well as in their liquid state for casting or coating. Acrylics may be made transparent, translucent, or opaque, and are available in a range of colors. (pr. uh-cri'licks)
photography
Acryli-graph
The Acryli-graphic printing process produces prints on heavy handmade paper that are highly textured and hand-colored. The artist creates the acrylic plate, pulls and approves the proof, then overseas printing of the entire edition.
photography
Airbrush
A precision spray gun attached to an electric air compressor (or other means of air pressure), or the use of this device to spray paints, dyes or inks. A great variety of spraying effects can be achieved using an airbrush, typically for very smooth applications or gradation of color. The use of airbrush is strongly associated with commercial art, in which it is often used in illustrations, in photographic retouching, and other types of painting. Computer "paint" and photography programs usually have the ability to simulate this painting method.
photography
Aquatint
A process of intaglio printing which gives finely granulated tonal areas in monochrome or color. A metal plate is powdered with acid-resisting resin, fused by heating, and is then placed in a bath of acid which bites between the resin particles to produce an evenly pitted surface. The longer the acid works on the plate, the darker the grey on printing. The design is drawn, and the tones are varied, by brushing the plate with varnish, a process known as stopping out. The aquatint, frequently combined with linear etching, was perfected by the second half of the 18th century and has been used most notably by Goya and Degas.
photography
Bas Relief
A French term meaning "low-raised work." This art, along with high relief, is known collectively as relief sculpture-- meant to be seen primarily from one direction-- as opposed to sculpture which is in the round or full round. (pr. bah'ruh-leef')
photography
Bonded Bronze
Cold-Cast Bronze or Bonded Bronze as it is sometimes called, is actually made of a polyester, epoxy or another resin. Bronze powder and paints are used to achieve the bronze appearance. Marble dust can also be added to the resin to achieve a marble look, hence bonded stone.
photography
Bonded Clay
Bonded Clay is a resin-based material that is similar to the materials used for Bill Mack’s other artworks, but in a smooth, neutral gray/clay color.
photography
Book
A book is typically a set of written, printed, or blank paper pages, bound together on one edge, within protective covers; a codex. It usually has a significant amount of text, and may also be illustrated. In cyperspeak (aka geek-speek) books are called "treeware" or a "dead tree edition," though these concepts can include any other work printed on paper.
photography
Bronze
Any of various alloys of copper and tin, sometimes with tin or other metals. It has commonly been used in casting. A work cast in bronze is sometimes referred to as a bronze. It may also refer to the color of bronze, a moderate yellowish to olive brown.

Collotype
Collotype is the most accurate and beautiful method of photomechanical reproduction yet invented. It has the advantage that it can render continuous graduations of tone without the intervention of a screen. But the making and printing of collotype plates is skilled and expensive work and can easily go wrong. Variations in humidity are likely to upset the balance of moisture in the gelatin causing it to swell or shrink. The surface is too delicate to produce more than two thousand impressions. For these reasons, collotype has been used for luxury publications and, since World War II, has been largely abandoned for other commercial purposes. Collotype is a photographic process in which a film of gelatin provides the printing surface. The technique is dependent on the fact that light sensitized gelatin hardens in proportion to the amount of light to which it is exposed.
photography
Etching
Etchings are usually made from a copper plate dipped in an acid bath. Before this, however, the plate must be prepared with a ground, (wax and bitumen) that is then made black by being held over candles. This makes the copper lines gleam as they are drawn across the plate with an etching needle. Then the back of the plate is coated with a stopper varnish to prevent it from dissolving away, and the plate is put into the acid. Additional drawings may be made to further complete the print, and other areas already worked over, coated with stopper, as more depth and thickness is achieved with further baths in the acid. Any prints pulled through the press at this point will be the first, second, etc pulls or proofs, and have greater rarity than those pulled when the print is finished.
Giclee print
Gesso Panel
Gessoboards are the newest medium for original works. These one of a kind exquisite acrylics or serigraphs no longer need to hide behind glass. This museum quality look adds to the continued appeal of the artwork.

With the advent of giclée (zhee-clay) the art of fine art printing has become even more precise. Because no screens are used, the prints have a higher apparent resolution than lithographs. The dynamic color range is greater than serigraphy. In the giclée process, a fine stream of ink-- more than four million droplets per second—is sprayed onto archival art paper or canvas. The effect is similar to an air brush technique but much finer. Each piece is carefully hand mounted onto a drum which rotates during printing. Exact calculations of hue, value and density direct the ink of four nozzles. This produces a combination of 512 chromatic changes (with over 3 million colors possible) of highly saturated, nontoxic water-based ink. The artist’s color approval and input are essential for creating the final custom settings for the edition.

Lithograph on Canvas
In the graphic arts, a method of printing from a prepared flat stone or metal or plastic plate, invented in the late eighteenth century. A drawing is made on the stone or plate with a greasy crayon or tusche, and then washed with water. When ink is applied it sticks to the greasy drawing but runs off (or is resisted by) the wet surface allowing a print-- a lithograph-- to be made of the drawing. The artist, or other print maker under the artist's supervision, then covers the plate with a sheet of paper and runs both through a press under light pressure. For color lithography separate drawings are made for each color. (pr. le-thog'ruh-fee)

Mixed Media
This is where the artist creates a collage with paper and/or other elements, like wax, glass or metal and original imagery. Each picture may have the same component parts, but the composition will slightly differ. This makes each picture an original.

Offset Lithograph
The printing process in which an inked image on a metal or paper plate is transferred to a smooth rubber cylinder and then to the paper

Oil Painting
The oils used in oil paint serve two purposes. First, the paints are made by grinding pigments together with oil, which acts as an adhesive that attaches the pigment to the support and keeps the particles in suspension. Second, oils are used as a medium to modify paints, either by themselves or mixed with turpentine or resin.
When used as a medium for painting, oils perform several important functions:
1. Executive--Allows the colors to be applied and spread out.
2. Binding--Locks the pigment particles into a film, protecting them from the environment and physical damage and from being disturbed by additional applications of paint.
3. Adhesive--Dries and acts as an adhesive, attaching the colors to the support.
4. Optical--Brings out the depth and tone of the pigment, resulting in a different quality from its dry state.
Oils are classified as either drying or semi-drying. Linseed oil is a drying oil and the most widely used. It has been utilized by painters since the 15th Century for both grinding pigments and as a paint medium.
Safflower, sunflower, and poppy oils are all semi-drying. Because they are paler and have less of a tendency to yellow, they are often used for grinding white pigments. Semi-drying oils are often used to slow down the fast drying times of some pigments and can be used either by themselves or mixed with a drying oil. When using them, care should be taken to make sure that they are completely dry before applying the next paint layer.
The type of processing that oils undergo determines their characteristics and how they interact with paint. Stand oil is made by heating oil without contact with air. This causes a molecular change--polymerization--that gives the oil a syrupy quality. Stand linseed oil is particularly useful in painting mediums. Thinned with turpentine or mineral spirits, it increases the flow properties of oil paint. The resulting paint film will resist yellowing, be tough and elastic, and retain its flexibility as it ages. Because it is slow to dry, stand linseed oil is often combined with damar varnish and a solvent to promote drying.
Sometimes metallic driers--such as lead, manganese or cobalt--are added to hasten drying. This is called "drying linseed oil" and is good to speed drying in the early stages of a painting (and it dries darker than plain linseed oil).
Sun-bleached and sun-thickened oils are processed by mixing oil with an equal amount of water, followed by exposure to sunlight in loosely covered, flat trays. Sunlight temporarily bleaches plant colorings, but the color of the oil deepens when it dries and hardens. The mixture is left outside for a number of weeks until the desired thickness is reached; then it is filtered and the water removed.
Sun-bleached and sun-thickened oils undergo polymerization upon contact with air, so they dry faster than stand oils. They are low viscosity and may be thickened with stand oils or thinned with solvents, as desired.
Sun-thickened linseed oil has been a standard material of painters for centuries. It produces a strong, elastic paint film. Sun-bleached poppy oil is a yellowing-resistant oil which dries more slowly than sun-bleached linseed oil. It is highly recommended for use with whites and pale colors in the final layers of an oil painting.

Pastel
A Pastel is a small coloured stick resembling a piece of chalk. With pastels, the pastelist obtains two effects. Either a drawing if he uses them as a coloured pencil or a painting if he imitates the effect of painting by covering the medium entirely. The pastel range of colours is very extensive from the more intensive shades down to the softest ones.
So, Pastel is an adaptable and rich technique. It is also a direct technique. When pastelling, you feel as if you are modeling clay because you express yourself on the medium with the small stick only, without the help of something else interfering like oil, water, a brush or a palette. However, nothing prevents you from using pastel in mixed media where it provides excellent results.
On the other hand, the small stick of pastel being composed only of pigments, some talc and gummed water, the coloured powders of a Pastel (the art work realized with that stick) keep fresh and resist the ravages of time.

Porcelain
A hard, white, translucent, impervious, resonant ceramic body, also known as china, invented in China between A.D. 600 and 900. This clay is primarily made of kaolin, a fine white clay. Also, an object made of porcelain; and sometimes any pottery that is translucent, whether or not it is made of kaolin. Porcelain is regarded as the most refined of all ceramic wares.
photography
Poster
The term "poster" is used here to describe prints that are published in unlimited or limited but high numbered quantities. These pieces are always created with the highest level of quality. Many of these prints were created using special color plates to enhance the image. During the production phase, the piece is coated with a glossy UV varnish giving the image a smooth, shiny surface. The borders, when applicable, are then coated with a matte finish resulting in a startling contrast. The final product is a high quality collectible print.
photography
Resin Sculpture
A three-dimensional work of art from a natural substance secreted by plants (mostly by trees), which is transparent to translucent yellow or brown, such as copal, rosin, and amber, used principally in lacquers, varnishes, inks, adhesives, synthetic plastics, and turpentine.
photography
Screenprint
A screenprint, or serigraph, is a print made by pushing ink through a screen. It is basically a stencil technique.
The use of a screen with silk bolting cloth as a stencil carrier was developed in Europe in the early 20th Century. The method most widely used today is essentially the same though more refined. The screen is a frame of wood or metal with silk cloth or other material stretched drum-tight over it.
The stencil is either attached to or formed on the screen. The screen is then hinged to a printing support, usually a table, which has register tabs to position each sheet of paper correctly. Then ink is pushed through from the top side with a special squeegee onto the printing paper underneath.

Serigraph on Canvas
A stencil method of printmaking in which an image is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. Also called silkscreen process and screen-printing. A serigraph is a print made by this method.

Watercolor
This is a transparent paint bound with gum arabic and mixed in use with water. It is applied on specially prepared paper or card, usually white, which reflects light up through the paint to give the sparkling luminosity characteristic of the medium. Its popularity grew in the 18th century, when it was used to color in topographical sketches, and as a medium for fluid, spontaneous painting it was developed to a peak by British landscapists.
photography
Woodcut
A print made by cutting a design in side-grain of a block of wood, also called a woodblock print. The ink is transferred from the raised surfaces to paper.

Online photography, online photographs for sale.Ever since 1999 i have been active in the photographic world, from retouching photographs in photoshop (professionally) to working in a lab, developing pictures. from the moment i picked up a camera i fell in love with the process. inspired by the greats like ansel Adams, Galen Rowell , Peter Dombrovskis etc... my direction seemed to naturally be landscape photography. Combining two of my passions ( the outdoors) and the camera.since then i have traveled to many national parks, and try to visit as many states as i can for my photographes, i have been to the great smoky mountains in tennessee, the catskills (which is practically in my own back yard compared to any national park or state park), Denali national park in alaska ( see photographs at my online store/gallery... the photograph of the Dall sheep, and the one off the denali highway). i've recently also been to Arizona, which is great if you want to photograph landscapes, the grand canyon is great on color slides, as well as sedona Arizona. from there went on to Utah where i got to capture the beauty of Zion and Bryce Canyon. I've also been to Olympic national park in Washington which is simply amazing, the photograph for sale in the store is from ShiShi beach). For the past 3 years i have been mostly photographing using my medium format Fuji Rangefinder, it is a 6x9 camera that has an amazing lens attached to it. 6x9 slides are just amazing, and when scanned correctly can produce the most beautiful canvas giclee prints.I am glad i can finally offer my original prints for sale at this online store. these fine art enlargments (mostly in color, some in black and white) are sure to make your room get that special touch you've been looking for.I am also the proud new owner of a Beseler 45MCRX enlarger. It's a real beauty, more like a delicate giant.. It's hard to believe this machine has been discontinued for 35 years. This model was actually used by Ansel Adams. Now i just have to find the time to re-set up the darkroom and put this baby to some good use.Welcome to the New Online Store. While most photographs on this site are available for sale, in this gallery you will find some of my favorites being offered as stunning Canvas Giclée Enlargements (up to 30x40"). Paypal Checkout is provided for your convenience. The computer technology in canvas Giclée photography provides outstanding detail and vibrant colors. Image resolution (DPI or Dots Per Inch) is higher than in traditional lithography. My Giclées are printed using high-resolution ink jet printers, which result in sharp contrast with rich, brilliant colors and amazing tonality. These Giclée photography images are printed on archival canvas using archival inks. Predicted life span estimates are expected to be more than 99 years under normal home and office conditions. However, Giclée prints should not be exposed to water or direct sunlight, which could cause damage. I use Epson Ultrachrome inks, exclusively, because of their archival quality and true colors. All of this guarantees you a long-lasting museum quality work of art.Giclée ("jee-clay") is a French word which roughly translates as "to spray". The Giclée printing process involves spraying microscopic dots of ink onto fine quality paper or canvas, in this case with a high-quality ink jet printer. The result is a fine art print that is often indistinguishable from those created with traditional photographic methods. Most of my Giclées originate from beautiful 6x9cm trasparancies which are scanned and edited with the highest standards & attention to detail and quailty.Artist statment:Photography for me is more then just an expensive hobby. it's my passion. I try to combine the beauty and quality of negative/transparency film with modern day digital editing tools to get unique images which stand out, and now i can offer this original photographs for sale at my online gallery..I do not specialize in any type of photography, I love to shoot everything I can, from grand American landscapes to studio macro, who says we have to limit ourselves anyway...? This site is here to allow me to share this passion with you. Enjoy. Roy Somech.
